Act 862 of 2017 allows a public school district and open-enrollment public charter school to develop a plan for alternative methods of instruction (AMI) to be used on days when the superintendent closes school due to exceptional or emergency circumstances. The Clarksville School District has been approved for 5 days of alternate instruction. The purpose of these days is for students, faculty, and staff to work from home. Students will review and/or extend learning that has been previously presented during classroom instruction. Using these AMI days, will prevent us from attaching these days to the end of the school year. The superintendent will alert all staff and parents about the AMI day and give appropriate instructions via our Alert Now all-call system.
Pyron AMI packets have been copied and placed in student binders for use when needed. These packets are also available on the Pyron webpage to download and print. If Pyron misses one day for inclement weather, your child/student will complete only Day 1 of the packet that is provided. If Pyron misses two days, he/she will complete Day 1 and 2 and so on according to the number of days missed.
Staff will be available to assist students and answer any questions they may have concerning their assignments through the school email from 8:00 AM -3:00 PM. Assignments will be due within five (5) days after school resumes following an AMI day.
With this AMI waiver, the learning packets completed, turned in, and graded will count as a full day of school. If a student fails to turn in an AMI lesson(s), he/she will be counted absent for that day.
Clarksville Schools will continue its commitment to following all aspects of IDEA
and ADA in the implementation of the AMI plan.
